Add in the country’s warm hospitality and vibrant traditions, and it’s no wonder Vietnam continues to be a favorite for both adventure seekers and cultural enthusiasts.

When to Visit Vietnam

Vietnam’s long, narrow shape creates regional weather differences, so the best time to visit depends on where you’re heading. In general, the dry season in the north (Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Long Bay) runs from October to April, while the central coast (Hoi An, Da Nang) is driest from February to August. Southern Vietnam (including Ho Chi Minh City) is best visited from December to April, when it’s warm and dry. No matter the season, Vietnam’s diversity of climates means you can often find great weather somewhere in the country—just plan accordingly!
